Privacy Policy

What Velqiri collects, why, who helps us run the service, how long we keep your information and the choices you have.

Version 1.0 · Effective 25 September 2026

Draft, not yet in effect. Still to come: a final legal review. This page will be dated and published before the app is released.

Summary

  • We collect what you give us: your account and profile, the Apple Health data you allow, and what you log or write in the app.
  • Velqiri's coach is an AI, and it is always on. To reply to you and to check in during your day, it sends the relevant part of your data to the AI providers named below. They are instructed not to keep it or train models on it.
  • We never sell your information. We never use it for advertising, and never share Apple Health data with advertisers, data brokers or information resellers.
  • Velqiri does not create your health data. Your sleep, heart rate, workouts and other health readings come from Apple Health, only the types you allow.
  • You can export all of your data, and you can delete your account from the app at any time. Deletion removes it from our servers straight away.
  • Velqiri is for adults aged 18 and over. It is a wellness app, not a medical device.

Who we are

Velqiri is run by Amit ("Velqiri", "we", "us"). We decide how the personal information described here is used and are responsible for it. This policy covers the Velqiri iPhone app, the Velqiri Apple Watch app, their widgets, and this website.

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts.

What we collect

Everything below is linked to your account. None of it is used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

InformationWhat it includesWhy we need it
AccountYour email address and a password, stored only as a salted hash. With Sign in with Apple: Apple's identifier for you, the email Apple shares (possibly a private relay address) and a token Apple issues so we can disconnect Velqiri from your Apple ID when you delete your account. Whether your email is verified. Sign-in sessions and one-time email codes, stored as hashes. To create your account, sign you in, keep it secure, and send account emails such as verification and password reset codes.
Profile and settingsName, date of birth, goal and target date, experience, units, time zone, sleep and wake times, quiet hours, training days and equipment, height, optional heart-rate settings, coach tone, chat language (or, on Auto, the language detected from your messages), the bedtime and wind-down time worked out from your usual nights, and your settings for stress, milestones and cycle tracking. To personalise targets, plans and coaching, and to confirm you are 18 or older. The AI providers never receive your name, date of birth or time zone. They get an age band instead.
Apple Health dataOnly the categories you allow. They are listed under Apple Health data below. Each entry keeps its source app or device and its time, and the app keeps track of how far each type has synced. From these we also keep daily summaries of frequent readings (such as steps and heart rate), the heart-rate readings inside each workout, and a count of how many readings your account holds, so screens load quickly and storage stays within limits. To show your sleep, activity, recovery and heart trends, and to ground coaching in your own history.
What you logCheck-ins (mood, energy, soreness), journal entries and custom habits, water, meals (what you typed, portion and meal type) with estimated calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat, and optional estimated fiber, sugar, saturated fat, sodium, iron, calcium, potassium and vitamin C, body measurements, blood pressure, sleep diary, breathing sessions, stress check-ins and their notes, workouts and strength sets, goals, plans, programs, habit experiments, reminders, cycle entries (if you turn cycle tracking on), life-stage context such as pregnancy, postpartum or perimenopause (if you add it), smoking or alcohol tracking (if you use it), lab values you confirm, and notes you save in Help & feedback. These are your records. They make up your history, reviews and coaching.
Scores, reviews and milestonesDaily scores and how they were recalculated, written reviews of your week, month and year, your daily plan, your Today briefing and the coach's insight for each screen, and milestones, streaks and badges.Worked out from your data so you can see progress over time.
Coach conversationsMessages you send the coach and its replies (with the headline and suggested answers it offers), whether you marked a reply helpful or not helpful, including the short check-in threads the coach opens at moments of your day (such as the midday meal check and your answer to it: Log a meal, Not yet or Skip today), the conversation you open from each metric screen (a new one starts after 15 idle minutes), the reply chips you tap, and one outcome line saved when each thread closes. Memories you save or approve, drafts the coach prepares for you to confirm, coach reviews and the topics the coach has already raised. To continue your conversations, remember what you asked it to, avoid repeating itself, and show your history.
Meal photosA photo you choose to send, from the camera or your photo library. An AI model lists the foods it can see so you can review a draft meal. The photo is processed and discarded. We do not store it.
Meals you describeA few words about a meal, such as "roti" or "dal chawal", and the portion you pick. The description is sent to the AI models to suggest portions and estimate nutrition. The estimate is a draft until you confirm it, and editing a meal removes its micronutrient estimates. The confirmed meal is saved with your logs.
Lab reportsA PDF you choose to upload after you confirm sharing it.The PDF is read by optical character recognition (OCR) and an AI model, and the values come back to you for review. We do not store the PDF. Only the values you confirm are saved, with the file name and page they came from. Once confirmed, they also let the coach suggest foods around diet-related markers outside the report's own range (never supplements or doses).
Apple WatchWorkouts you record on the Watch (activity, duration, heart rate, energy and distance), effort ratings and quick check-ins you enter on it, breathing sessions, the Watch model a workout was recorded on, and the Watch battery level reported by the Velqiri Watch app. The Watch also shows a summary of today's recovery and plan sent from your iPhone, kept on the Watch. To save your sessions and show where each came from, and to remind you to charge the Watch before bed so the night gets recorded.
Teams (optional)Teams you create or join, posts you write, challenge participation, the workout summaries you choose to share, reports you send and people you block. To run teams and challenges. Other members of a team see your display name, your posts and what you choose to share. Reports reach the team owner and our moderation inbox.
NotificationsYour device's push notification token, notification and quiet-hour settings, paused moments, a record of the notifications we queued, and which workout and morning summaries we sent. Velqiri asks for notification permission at the end of onboarding; you can skip it.To send the check-ins, summaries and reminders you keep on, never during quiet hours.
SubscriptionApple's transaction numbers for your Velqiri Premium purchase, the product, trial, renewal status and expiry, and a random account token that links the purchase to your account. We never receive your card or payment details. To unlock Premium features and handle renewals, refunds and restores.
Your agreementsWhen you accepted this policy and the Terms, which version, a fingerprint of the exact text, the app version and your language setting. To show what you agreed to, and to ask again when something material changes.
AI usage recordsA record of each AI request made for your account: when it was made, what kind it was (for example chat, a check-in or lab reading), which model and provider handled it, its size, its estimated cost, whether it succeeded and how long it took, plus a daily count of requests of each kind. Never their content. To keep the service within fair-use and cost limits, and to find and fix failed requests.
Technical dataYour IP address and basic request details (time, address requested, result, duration), retry keys that stop a repeated request from being saved twice, and counters of how many requests, readings and entries your account sent recently. To deliver the service, keep usage within fair limits, stop abuse such as repeated sign-in attempts, and fix problems. Server logs are designed not to contain health values.

What we don't collect

  • Location. Workout routes are read from Apple Health on your iPhone only to draw the map. The coordinates are never sent to us.
  • Calendar details. If you allow calendar access, the app reads only busy times, on your iPhone, to flag a clash with today's session. Event titles, notes, guests and locations are never read, and busy times never leave your phone.
  • Voice recordings. Dictation is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition, on your device where your iPhone supports it and otherwise by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Audio never reaches Velqiri. Only the text you choose to send does.
  • Face ID data. App lock uses iOS. We only learn whether unlocking succeeded.
  • Advertising and tracking. No advertising identifier, no tracking across apps or websites, and no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code in the apps.

Some information stays on your devices: your sign-in session (in the iPhone Keychain), app lock and calendar-check settings, short summaries shown by widgets and the Watch app, and an offline copy of your account (see below).

Offline copy on your iPhone. So your day still opens without a connection, the app keeps a copy of your account on your iPhone for offline viewing: your profile, today's and the last few days' summaries, entries and workouts, your plan, check-ins, milestones and recent coach conversations. Some of it is kept in full, not only recent days: your settings, goals, reminders, programs, habits, experiments and experiment check-ins, strength routines, period review focuses, the life stage you chose, what your coach remembers (Coach memory), and your saved history of lab results, cycle tracking, body measurements and blood pressure. It is limited in size, holds no raw readings from Apple Health, stays inside the app's own storage on your iPhone, is not included in iCloud or computer backups, and is never sent anywhere. It is replaced each time the app loads your account, and it is removed when you sign out or delete your account. A copy more than 7 days old is never shown, and it is deleted the next time you open Velqiri (nothing can delete it while the app is closed).

Apple Health (HealthKit) data

Connecting Apple Health is optional. Velqiri reads only the categories you grant in iOS, and you can change them at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Velqiri. With your permission, Velqiri reads:

  • Sleep: sleep analysis, including sleep stages.
  • Heart: heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, walking heart rate average, heart rate recovery after workouts, ECG recordings (Apple's classification, symptoms and average heart rate, never the waveform) and heart notifications for high, low and irregular rhythm.
  • Breathing and temperature: respiratory rate, blood oxygen and sleeping wrist temperature.
  • Activity: steps, active energy, exercise minutes, stand hours, walking and running distance, cycling distance, cardio fitness (VO2 max) and workouts, with their activity, duration, energy, heart rate, distance and Apple's workout effort score (including swimming, wheelchair, rowing, paddling and snow sports).
  • Body: weight, body fat percentage, lean body mass and blood pressure.
  • Nutrition: water, dietary energy, protein, carbohydrates and total fat.
  • Cycle: menstrual flow, only while cycle tracking is on in Velqiri.

With your permission, Velqiri also saves to Apple Health the workouts you record, the body weight you enter, and, if you turn it on, finished breathing sessions as Mindful Minutes.

How we treat Apple Health data. We use Apple Health data, and anything worked out from it, only to provide Velqiri's health and fitness features to you. We do not use it for advertising, marketing or data mining, we do not sell it, and we never share it with advertising platforms, data brokers or information resellers. We share it only with the service providers listed below that run those features for you, including the AI providers that write your coaching, and only for that purpose. We never store Apple Health data in iCloud, and we never write false or inaccurate data to Apple Health.

Turning off access stops new data from being read. To remove what was already uploaded, use Privacy & data → Delete imported health data in the app. It also removes the scores and reviews worked out from that data. The originals in Apple Health are not touched.

The AI coach

Velqiri's coach is an AI, and it is always on. It is part of how Velqiri works, not an add-on, so there is no switch to turn it off. Before you use the app we ask you to accept this, and to agree separately to your health data being stored and to it being sent to the AI providers below. Nothing is sent before you agree.

The coach works when you chat with it, when it prepares your daily plan and reviews of your week, month and year, when it opens a short check-in at a moment of your day that you keep on (for example after you wake, after a workout, or in the evening), when you ask it to list the foods in a meal photo, when you describe a meal in a few words (so it can suggest portions and estimate nutrition), to prepare the insight on each metric screen (Today, Sleep, Recovery, Strain or Health Monitor) after new health data syncs, in the morning and when you open the screen, to keep your Today briefing current when new data arrives (a few times a day at most), for a midday meal check if you log meals and none is logged yet, and when you upload a lab report.

What is sent. Each request carries only what that task needs: the relevant part of the conversation, a summary of the data behind it (for example last night's sleep or today's workout), your goal, experience, an age band, your saved coach memories and preferences, and your chat language. For food questions and suggestions, it can include today's confirmed meals and their macro balance (protein per kilogram uses your weight), and recent lab values you confirmed that are diet-related and outside the report's own range (last 12 months). A check-in thread sends only that thread and its own summary, never your other conversations. Your name, email, date of birth and time zone are not sent. Cycle information is included only if you allow it in cycle settings.

Who receives it. Requests go through OpenRouter to OpenAI, L.L.C. (United States), which runs the AI models. The main model, a faster model for short openings and reply chips, and a vision model for meal photos all come from the provider or providers named here. Lab report PDFs are read by Mistral AI's OCR service, also through OpenRouter. We tell OpenRouter to use only providers that do not store or train models on your data. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Safety. If a message suggests you may be in crisis or describes urgent symptoms, Velqiri shows a fixed safety message pointing you to emergency help. AI replies can be wrong, which is why food drafts and lab values are shown to you for review before they are saved.

Withdrawing. Because the AI coach is part of the service, you withdraw your agreement by deleting your account (Privacy & data → Delete account permanently). Export your data first if you want a copy. Deleting stops all future processing. It cannot recall requests that were already processed. Short of deleting, you can limit what the coach sees: don't connect Apple Health or turn off categories, don't send photos or PDFs, silence check-in moments, keep cycle information out of coaching, and clear coach history and memory.

How we use information

  • To provide Velqiri: trends, scores, plans, check-ins, reviews, reminders, milestones, Apple Watch workouts and teams.
  • To coach you with AI, as described above.
  • To keep accounts secure, prevent abuse and enforce fair-use limits.
  • To manage your subscription with Apple.
  • To answer support messages and review reports about team posts.
  • To run, maintain and fix the service, and to meet legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, build profiles for other companies, or use it to train AI models.

Legal bases. Where the law requires one, we rely on: your explicit consent for health data and for sending data to the AI providers; the contract with you (the Terms) to provide the service you signed up for; our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse; and legal obligations, for example keeping records we are required to keep.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers (sub-processors) below. Each processes it on our instructions and only to run Velqiri. We do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it, for example a valid court order, or to protect someone's safety.

ProviderWhat they do for VelqiriWhat they receive
Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany)Hosts our servers and database. All information stored by the service.
Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany)Stores daily database backups, in the same data centre as our servers.Copies of the database.
OpenRouter, Inc. (United States)Routes AI requests to the model provider. The content of each AI request described in The AI coach.
OpenAI, L.L.C. (United States)Runs the AI models that write coaching, check-ins, plans, reviews, screen insights and the Today briefing, estimate meal nutrition from your description, list foods in meal photos and transcribe lab values. The content of each AI request, including meal photos.
Mistral AI (France)Reads (OCR) the lab report PDFs you upload. The PDF you upload.
Apple Inc. (United States)Sign in with Apple, push notification delivery, App Store purchases and subscriptions, and speech recognition when it cannot run on your device. We send notifications directly to Apple's Push Notification service (APNs); no third-party push service is used.Sign-in tokens, your device token and notification text, purchase records, and dictation audio (sent by iOS, never through us).
Twilio Inc. (United States) for account email; Google LLC (United States) for the support mailboxSends account emails and hosts our support, contact and moderation mailboxes.Your email address, one-time codes, messages you send us, and team post reports.

Notifications. Apple delivers notifications, so their text passes through Apple's push service. With Show numbers in notifications on, which is the default for new accounts, workout and morning summaries show a workout's time and strain and your recovery, sleep and HRV, and the first sentence of the coach's message can appear in the preview, including on the Lock Screen. Turn it off in notification settings and previews carry no health details: a summary only says it is ready. Accounts that existed before this setting keep numbers hidden until they turn it on.

Teams. Members of a team you join see your display name, your posts and what you choose to share there.

If Velqiri is ever sold or merged, your information would pass to the new operator only under this policy, and we would tell you first.

Where your information is stored

Our servers and database are located in Finland (European Union). Some providers above process requests in other countries, including the United States. Where the law requires it, we use safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for those transfers.

Only the people who operate the service can access production systems. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Wellness, not medical care

Velqiri is a wellness app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it is not monitored by clinicians. Do not use it in an emergency. Contact your local emergency number instead. See the wellness disclaimer in the Terms.
